Mountaineering part 3 (Rinsennock, Gr. Königsstuhl)

Ok, it was hiking and no mountaineering. But walking nearly 10 hour a day is also exhausting.

Starting point was the lake Turracher See (1.763 m) and the route was: ‘Barbara-Weg’ to the top of Rinsennock (2.334 m), Pregatscharte (1.902 m),  Schneegrubensattel (2.000 m), Stangscharte (2.076 m), Karlnock (2.310 m), Großer Königsstuhl (2.336 m) and the same route back (but not over Rinsennock).

Mountaineering part 2 (Hochstuhl)

Now we made it: we (with the same friend as last time) mountaineered up to the highest mountain of the Karawanken, the so called Hochstuhl (2.237 m). There is a via ferrata (fixed rope route=Klettersteig) to the top of the mountain with the grade B/C (middle to hard). The entrance to this via ferrata is on the way up to the Klagenfurter Hütte and it takes about 2-3 hours from this way (about 1.500 m) to the top of the mountain.

For people having no head for heights (like me ;) ) I would recommend some carabiners and a rope to feel more secure. But you live and  learn…

On the top, the view is awesome (Klagenfurt, Villach, Großglockner, Jesenice, Triglav, Bled,…):

For the descend we chose another route via Slovenia to the anticline (Bergsattel) of the mountain Bielschitza back to the Klagenfurter Hütte (1,5-2,5 hours):

Mountaineering (Bärental, Karawanken)

To benefit from the clear and warm weather I decided to climb up two mountains with a friend on Sunday :

Starting point was the so called Stouhütte (960 m). After walking about 1,5 h we arrived at Klagenfurter Hütte (1.664 m) and it took about another hour to climb up the Bielschitza (cliff, 1.958 m). After a little break back at the Klagenfurter Hütte we also climbed up Kosiak (grassland, 2.024 m) and finally we descented back to Stouhütte.

The perspective was great: we could see Villach, Klagenfurt, Triglav, Großglockner,…
