Mountaineering part 2 (Hochstuhl)
Now we made it: we (with the same friend as last time) mountaineered up to the highest mountain of the Karawanken, the so called Hochstuhl (2.237 m). There is a via ferrata (fixed rope route=Klettersteig) to the top of the mountain with the grade B/C (middle to hard). The entrance to this via ferrata is on the way up to the Klagenfurter Hütte and it takes about 2-3 hours from this way (about 1.500 m) to the top of the mountain.
For people having no head for heights (like me
) I would recommend some carabiners and a rope to feel more secure. But you live and learn…
On the top, the view is awesome (Klagenfurt, Villach, Großglockner, Jesenice, Triglav, Bled,…):
For the descend we chose another route via Slovenia to the anticline (Bergsattel) of the mountain Bielschitza back to the Klagenfurter Hütte (1,5-2,5 hours):
